A friend of mine recommended I try CBD oil for my chronic insomnia. I thought it was an excessive step to take, but I finally tried it. For the last couple of nights I’ve slept very, very well. I think it’ll keep it up.

I am a little apprehensive about self-medicating, especially with a substance that has, until so recently, been all but taboo in polite company, let alone illegal. That tinges the legitimacy of the product a bit. No doubt some ‘real’ doctors would have a lot to say on the matter.

But for me, all that matters is that I can sleep now. And I’d like to live in a world where such a potential miracle cure is able to be studied for its side effects rather than stigmatized.

Fortunately CBD is becoming the new Juul: hawked on every corner. At some point no doubt some scientist will prove that it causes horrible long-term defects.

But for now, at least I can sleep, and for that I am grateful.
