I will never cease to be amazed by how often an assumption I have made about a person turns out to be wrong.

I’m not the only one. We all tend to be very, very quick to form a picture of a person and assume we know everything about them.

It’s a shame, because when you get to know someone–anyone–you likely will find out how complex, emotionally deep, and interesting that person actually is.

Obviously we don’t have time to get to know all people like that.

But maybe if we all made a slightly better effort, we would also all benefit from the generosity of others’ opinions.

In the meantime, I’ll fight every instinct evolved into my psychology to try really hard not to make assumptions about people when I meet them. I hope the last person I met does the same.
